The observers of the deep sky objects: galaxies and nebulas.
Olivier Gadal grouped the most brilliant 2 000 objects of the NGC catalog (New General Catalogue), very used by amateur astronomers, because it contains the majority of the easily observable deep sky objects. For each of them, the author gives the position, the size and the luminosity. He also recommends which filter to use and send back towards the corresponding page of the Pocket Sky Atlas and Sky Atlas 2000.0.
Such a catalog could seem useless at the time of Internet. But it is very practical to have grouped on the same support the images of all these objects. It is particularly interesting for the photographers who look for original targets. The visual observers, as for them, can get an idea of the aspect of the object at which they aim.
